The Stadhuys

stadhuys-malaccaThe Stadthuys was the official residence of the Ducth Governor and the most imposing relic of the Dutch era in Melaka is the massive red town hall and governors' residence, built between 1641 and 1660 and believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East. It now houses the Historic Museum and Ethnography Museum. It displays all the typical features of Dutch colonial architecture. Nearby, one will also find the Christ Church build in 1753, another fine example of the Dutch architecture.
